Money, money & Milk down the Drain

The Queensland flood is such the Dairy Man & Woman is tipping the milk out as the Tankers cannot reach their Farms..

—¬†

Not raining,  not sunny.. not hot , yet miserable.

Just ¬†posted a few hours ago…

Another Great Depression

You would have no trouble finding news of the floods..
you are right, they have let the flood gates open – all of them
Problem is they never anticipated the drought & they were oh so close at running out of water.
Especially Brisbane & the whole SE Qld..

My argument re the Dam on the Dawson River.. it is close enough to pump water across to the SE  .. and they are all connected now..and the depth of the Nathan Gorge would have
held heaps more water than the Traverston Swamp .. on Mary River.. that Anna Bligh was¬† Lying about.. ¬† Millions of dollars was spent buying up good farm land… dairy farms and the Mary Valley was one of the best Dairying Districts in Queensland.
ÔĽŅ
Only about 8%  of the Milk produced in OZ  is produced here in Qld..

¬†Buggar of a Beattie hated the Dairyman so much ¬†( he was a bad boy and got put on Prison Farm when a Uni Student ¬†– ¬†he was raised by his Grand mother ( who had a live in boyfriend- officially ¬†‘the boarder!’

thus his income would not be counted when he qualified as a needy isolated student Рunlike the majority of those attending  state schools)   Peter Beattie  could not deregulate Dairying in Queensland fast enough, once he
got into power.. /
ÔĽŅFarmers are hurting. The deregulation of the dairy industry and the move to monopoly ownership in agriculture in general is forcing long-term family farms off the land. Farmers are also facing the consequences of erosion, salination and degredation of the land, the outcome of weak-kneed and ineffectual actions by government to prevent environmental damage.”

Standing Up Against the Gas Invasion

''Drilling is underway at the proposed Kimberley LNG Gas precinct between Quondong and James Price Point on the Dampier Peninsula. Drilling under floodlights day and night at intervals along the road. A tower has already been installed about 9km north of the Quondong Point turnoff.''

I do like to hear news from the Kimberlies ¬†& the Invaders have not taken Over … not completely.
<strong>handsoffcountry</strong> | November 25, 2010 |
<strong>Michael Caton of 'The Castle" fame, Neil McKenzie Jabirr Jabirr and Nik Wevers representing the Broome Community NO GAS campaign delivered the following postcards to Parliament House in Canberra.
Dear Prime Minister,
The Commonwealth Government is responsible for the final sign off on the LNG hub proposed for James Price Point on the coast just north of Broome.
It makes no sense to destroy the environmental and cultural values of Broome and the Kimberley coast when there are alternatives. Pipe the gas to the Pilbara or process it on a floating LNG hub.
Gough Whitlam understood the value of the Great Barrier Reef.
Bob Hawke understood the value of the Franklin River.
Prime Minister, you have an historic opportunity to protect the values of this unspoilt part of the world. Don't let the Kimberley become an industrial wasteland.
Say NO to a gas hub on the Kimberley coast.
Yours sincerely,
12,000 Australians. ''</strong>

floods & evacuated town

Yet another reason to have built the Nathan Dam!

''

More Queenslanders will be evacuated from their homes as the state battles the worst floods in 50 years.

Black Hawk helicopters were sent in to parts of the state on Tuesday to evacuate more than 1000 people stranded by rising floodwaters.

The flood crisis has sparked mass evacuations and disaster declarations in parts of central and southern Queensland, including the communities of Theodore, Chinchilla and Dalby.

The entire population of Theodore, inland from Bundaberg, is being evacuated after the worst flood in living memory swamped everything except the local police station.

Up to 200 people were due to be evacuated from Theodore by the end of Tuesday, with a further 90 people to be moved to the nearby town of Moura on Wednesday, Banana Shire Council Mayor Maureen Clancy told AAP.

"We'll be starting early to get people out of the town," she said.

By 11.30pm (AEST) the Dawson River was at 14.5 metres, down slightly from earlier in the day, but it was expected to start rising again on Wednesday.

At Bundaberg, residents have been put on evacuation alert, with up to 200 homes expected to be affected by flooding on Wednesday.

The Burnett river is expected to peak at 7.5 metres on Wednesday, exceeding levels last reached in 1956, acting chair of the local disaster management committee Dave Batt said.

In Dalby and Chinchilla, in the Western Downs Regional Council area west of Brisbane, the situation remains serious.

The swollen Myall Creek has split Dalby in two, with more than 100 homes inundated and residents taking refuge in evacuation centres.

At Chinchilla, Charleys Creek has reached levels not seen for almost 70 years with about 50 homes and businesses inundated and residents also holed up at an evacuation centre.

Forecasters say the rain is easing, but the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better as swollen rivers purge the deluge that's hit the central and southern regions.'' ¬†/ end of quote—¬†

Book : The Audacity of Deceit

From the Publisher

In the shocking political expose The Audacity of Deceit, you'll learn about Barack Obama's plans to "change" our country and your life by…

  • Raising taxes from the low rate of 28% under Ronald Reagan to economy-destroying 60% rate under Herbert Hoover.
  • Handing out Federal medical insurance to more than 12 million aliens, and increasing emergency room costs by $15.4 billion annually.
  • Appointing ultra-liberal, anti-business Supreme Court judges who would reverse the ruling that bans partial birth abortion, and the ruling that confirms the Second Amendment is an individual right.
  • Would take 25% of farmland out of production to satisfy environmental lobbyists, causing increased food costs and worldwide food shortages.
  • Implementing a "zero to five" program designed to transfer infant and child raising responsibilities for children under five from parents to the federal government.
  • Establishing a government agency to approve what types of medical procedures and operations senior citizens are permitted to have.
  • Increasing the liberal majority in Congress by allowing felons to vote.
  • Waging a trade war that would eliminate 10 million American jobs and re-establish the tariff system implemented by Herbert Hoover.

As a state senator, Obama…

  • Supported withholding emergency medical aid for babies who survive an abortion.

Stevia, the natural sweetner..

It has been developed close to home..My pictures in a later posting..

Stevia Sweetener Gets Approval in Australia

Stevia, the natural sweetener scientifically known as steviol glycosides, has finally been approved as an ingredient in both foods and beverages in New Zealand and Australia after CQUniversity researched the sweetener for almost a decade and submitted their findings for four years. In early October 2008, FSANZ, the Australian food authority, has finally approved stevia.

Now, stevia is finally being considered across the globe as a sugar substitute because it is very sweet. Dietary supplements of stevia are sold in the United States and individuals in other countries like South Korea, Brazil, and Japan have been taking the stevia supplements for years.

Recently, interest in stevia has increased dramatically and Both Pepsi and Coca Cola have developed no calorie sweeteners from the super sweet stevia plant. Both are trying to have their secret sweetener approved for use in the United States. All beverages are not suitable to the stevia sweetener and Pepsi has noted that the best beverages to use the stevia sweetener would be citrus flavored.

CQUniversity’s Centre for Plant and Water Science submitted the initial application in Australia for every consumer, user, or grower that would potentially be interested in stevia. David Midmore, a professor at the University, explained the stevia application had been developed because it was recognized to be a potential cash crop for farmers. In cooperation with University’s Honorary Fellow and research officer Andrew Rank, Midmore has worked for almost a decade on stevia.

Midmore has stated the problem with going through the approval process is that no company would hold the patent since it is not a new invention. As a result, no company wants to spend the money and time on a product that would be available for every company’s use.

The extract from stevia leaves is called steviol glycosides and they are a type of sugar that is incredibly intense. In fact, they are 250 times sweeter than sugar and stevia can be used in any food or drink that currently claims sugar as one of its ingredients. Before stevia replaces sugar, however, it is believed it will replace chemical sweeteners like those used in diet colas and beverages.

——————————————————————-

The approval given by the FDA to the zero-calorie, all-natural sweetener stevia has steered strong debate over the safety of such sugar substitutes.

In December of 2008, two new brands containing sweet extracts of the shrub, Stevia Rebaudiana passed an FDA review. The two brands ‚Äď Cargill‚Äôs Truvia which is owned by The Coca Cola Company and PepsiCo‚Äôs PureVia developed in collaboration with Merisant ‚Äď are expected to arrive on department store shelves soon. The excitement in the industry is palpable, especially because these are the first all-natural stevia-based sweeteners that have been approved for use by the FDA for use as sweeteners.

Stevia Powder (closeup)

Both Cargill and Merisant claim that they have managed to eliminate the natural licorice taste of the stevia leaves. The two soft drink giants will initially introduce stevia sweetened drinks and beverages in the market. Coca Cola is coming out with Sprite Green and Truvia. Pepsi is introducing several fruit flavors of SoBe Lifewaters sweetened with PureVia.

Amidst all the excitement, concerns are rising that the FDA has been hasty in granting approval to the stevia based sweeteners. According to Michel Jacobson, Head of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, studies have found a link between stevia and damage to genetic material. Tests also suggest that Rebaudioside A increases the risk of cancer. Jacobson is calling for more testing to be done before stevia is allowed to be added to foods and drinks.
