DISGRACED former state cabinet minister Gordon Nuttall will serve an extra 18 months in jail after a successful Attorney General's appeal against his 12 years jail sentence on corruption charges.

Nuttall, 58, who was found guilty in two seperate District Court trials of corruption charges now has a total sentence of 14 years jail with a new parole eligibility date of July 17, 2015.

He had been eligible to apply for parole in just over 19 months time.

Nuttall, the former state government high flyer, was serving 12 years jail as a result of two District Court trials but was eligible for parole on January 2, 2014 making a 4 1/2 years behind bars before possible release.

He will now spend six years behind bars before he expect to be released back into the community.

However, there was one light for Nuttall as normally anyone convicted after a trial would not be eligible for parole until the 50 percent mark which in his case would have been seven years.
