QUEENSLAND'S deputy premier Andrew Fraser will use Saturday's Australian Labor Party regional conference in Mackay as a platform to attack Liberal National Party (LNP) leader Campbell Newman.
In a forward copy of his address to the central Queensland conference, Mr Fraser says the former Brisbane lord mayor is not the "can-do" politician he portrays himself to be.
"I know, and you know, that Campbell Newman is not the can-do action man, slogan magnet he portrays himself as," Mr Fraser says.
"In reality, he's tempestuous and egotistical; dishonest and impetuous.
"Only now are Queenslanders beginning to see, and get to know, the real Campbell Newman.
"They're peeling back the layers of the public persona he's carefully crafted for himself and discovering that he is not the leader Queensland deserves."
In an arrangement never before seen in Australian politics, Mr Newman is leading the LNP from outside parliament.
